Meet The Doctors

Dr. Lisa Huebner, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Ventura Village

Dr. Lisa Huebner became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2018 when she began serving residents in the 805 area code, where she continues doing the work she finds so rewarding.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is having the ability to help people’s bodies heal from the inside out,” she says. “It’s a natural approach to healthcare. No drugs. No surgeries. No shots. Realigning the spine to help the body restore proper function and heal through our knowledge and hands is extremely gratifying.”

Dr. Lisa, as her patients call her, was born in Santa Barbara and grew up in Thousand Oaks; she has worked previously in Goleta, Montecito, Simi Valley and Ventura.

She is married to an IT professional in a family business in Oxnard and they have a young son and daughter. When they aren’t doting on their French bulldog Ruby or their 18 chickens -- and all of them have names, including Thelma and Louise -- Dr.Lisa enjoys baking, working out, listening to audiobooks, and going to the beach as a family.

Dr. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sports medicine, with an emphasis on human performance, from California Lutheran. She then earned her doctorate from the Palmer College of Chiropractic West Campus in San Jose.

“I knew I wanted a career in healthcare when I started college,” Dr. Lisa says. “A man from my church was a chiropractor and my dad suggested shadowing him. When I did, I was amazed with what chiropractic care was and how it helped people, how someone’s hands could help restore health. I shadowed the doctor for months and eventually worked for him my last two years of college before entering chiropractic school.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Lisa says the one thing she always has in her refrigerator is cheese: “It can go on practically anything! It’s good for quesadillas, grilled cheese, burritos, tacos, sandwiches -- you can’t go wrong with cheese.”

Her perfect dinner party with any four people from history would include author J.K. Rowling, first lady Michelle Obama, and television personalities RuPaul and Ellen DeGeneres “because these four are intelligent people with different backgrounds and good senses of humor.”

Dr. Lisa says the coolest thing she has done was a two-week trip to the birthplace of the Renaissance. “I visited my best friend in Florence during winter break and we traveled all around Italy,” she says. “It was great to visit beautiful places such as the Sistine Chapel, fashion capital Milan, and the leaning tower of Pisa -- all the while eating amazing food and touring beautiful sites and museums.”

Dr. William Adler, D.C is a Chiropractor at Ventura Village

Dr. William Wolf Adler joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2015 and has worked at the Wilshire & Highlands, Rosemead and Ventura locations. He joined the Rosemead team in July 2019 and was promoted to lead doctor in February 2020. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from University of California, Los Angeles in 1981 and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Los Angeles Chiropractic College in 1992.

Dr. William, as he prefers to be called, says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is "having a lasting impact on the health and livelihood of his patients and being a positive role model for them.”

A product of the San Fernando Valley, Dr. William was raised in Granada Hills… where he also helped raise his son and daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, but also stays active with racquetball and boxing.

Dr. William is a second-generation chiropractor, but forged his own unique path by following his other passions before finally following in his parents’ footsteps. Prior to entering chiropractic college, Dr. William spent time as a welterweight boxer, a professional racquetball player, and a firefighter paramedic for Los Angeles County.

Although he didn’t immediately train to be a chiropractor, he knew very early in his life that he would one day be a chiropractor. Dr. William says, “it was predestined for me to be a chiropractor. Not only was my mother a chiropractic doctor, my father was a well-respected pioneer in the chiropractic profession and was already bestowing his knowledge upon me at a very young age... my dad already taught me how to adjust, as a teenager, well before chiropractic college.

Along with the lessons his dad taught him, Dr. William has accumulated over 28 years of chiropractic experience, which he paid forward as a Professor at Cleveland Chiropractic College and Los Angeles College of Chiropractic for a combined 10 years. Dr. William is well versed with various adjusting techniques; is experienced with infant care; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; and is also very experienced with extremity and “TMJ” adjusting. His specialties include: Scoliosis and spinal rehabilitation, orthopedics, neurology, sports medicine, and CMUA.

Dr. William is excited about his involvement with the Rosemead clinic, because “This franchisee lead team is very customer focused and that is great! We incorporate a mix of corporate and small business ideas while staying focused on providing the best service while truly keeping the patient’s best interests in mind… but overall I'm very excited to deliver the power of the adjustment to heal the body.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Prior to joining The Joint Chiropractic model, he ran his own successful practices in Malibu, Granada Hills, and Santa Clarita. Living in Los Angeles has allowed him to have numerous encounters with some celebrities, but practicing in LA has also provided the opportunity to treat some well-known names in the entertainment industry.

The one thing that Dr. William says he must have in his refrigerator is “water to keep the disc spaces in his spine hydrated.”

He says that if he could invite any four people from history to his ideal dinner party, he would invite Muhamad Ali, Joe Lewis, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Jim Thorne… “Their presence, talent, and work ethic were head and shoulders above anyone else.”

Besides his work as a doctor, one of Dr. William’s proudest occupational accomplishments, he says, "Is having saved many lives and even having delivered 4 babies over the course of my 10-year fire fighter paramedic career.”

Dr. Gagandeep Bal, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Ventura Village

Dr. Gagandeep Bal graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax Virginia with a Bachelors of Science, with a focus in Biology. In 2010, he graduated from Palmer College and became a Doctor of Chiropractic. He previously worked in Reston, Virginia and in California in areas including Monrovia, Glendale, Thousand Oaks, and Reseda. He knew chiropractic care was his calling when he realized that “there is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause”. Dr. Bal loves watching patients' health improve with chiropractic care.

When not spending time with his wife, Nayneet, Dr. Bal likes to play basketball, go hiking, and loves to spend time with his family and friends. If Dr. Bal could have four people, living or dead, to comprise the perfect dinner party, he would choose Freddy Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, Sinatra and Bob Marley.

Dr. Aaron Shakarian, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Ventura Village

Dr. Aaron Shakarian began his journey as a local healthcare provider for The Joint Chiropractic in 2015, and in 2022 opened the Oxnard clinic location -- his fourth -- to continue doing the work he finds so rewarding as an owner/chiropractor.

“The thing I like most about being in this field is that chiropractic allows me to help patients with their pain or discomfort,” he says. “It’s amazing how fast some patients respond, maybe from pain or discomfort they’ve had for years without relief. It can be very emotional and gratifying to be able to make such a great impact on someone’s life.

“The other thing that’s really important to me is being able to help people with their pain and discomfort without having to resort to drugs or surgery.”

Dr. Aaron, as he is known to patients, was raised in Livonia, Mich. He worked previously as an owner/chiropractor at The Joint chiropractic clinics in Simi Valley, Port Hueneme, and Ventura. He also worked in Beverly Hills.

He and his wife have two daughters -- who are active in cheer and gymnastics -- as well as three dogs and a turtle. In Dr. Aaron’s spare time, he likes weight training, playing golf, hiking, traveling, and going out to restaurants.

Dr. Aaron received his doctorate in chiropractic from Life University in Marietta, Ga., after having attended Grand Valley State University.

“I was a competitive athlete in football, wrestling, and track,” he says. “Chiropractic was an integral part in helping me get well quickly with athletic injuries and with helping to prevent injuries too. When I was getting regular weekly chiropractic adjustments, I went the whole season without getting injured, which was very hard previous to that.

“When I was in chiropractic school, a student clinician performed an adjustment on my neck and afterward, my seasonal allergies went away. I knew immediately that something amazing had just happened and it solidified my passion for chiropractic.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Aaron would include Jesus Christ; DD Palmer, the founder of chiropractic; Hunter Doherty “Patch” Adams, the comedian, author and physician who was the subject of the Robin Williams movie Patch Adams; and Andrew Still, the founder of osteopathic medicine.

The one thing that Dr. Aaron always keeps stocked in his kitchen is sourdough bread: “It tastes good and has good bacteria inside that helps with stomach health.”

The most influential book he has read is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

Dr. Zachary Kelly, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Ventura Village

Dr. Zachary Kelly joined The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2022 when he began serving residents in Ventura, where he relishes the opportunity to do the work he finds so rewarding.

“The best thing about working in the chiropractic field is helping people,” he says. “I also like that we can always keep learning and improving the standard of care we give to our patients.”

Dr. Kelly grew up in San Luis Obispo County and worked previously in San Jose. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys golfing. He earned his doctorate of chiropractic at Palmer College West in San Jose.

“From the age of 12 I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor,” he says. “It wasn’t until two decades later that I fulfilled that dream. It’s never too late!”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Kelly says the one thing he always keeps stocked in his kitchen is Tapatio Sauce “because it’s the only thing that makes everything great.”

“If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Kelly would send invitations to “Indian civil rights leader Mahatma Gandhi to see what he would have done differently, President Abraham Lincoln to see how honest he was, basketball player Kobe Bryant to shoot hoops with him, and actor Adam Sandler to repeat Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison quotes back and forth to each other.”

Dr. Kelly says his coolest experience was attending a Lakers game “and watching Kobe smash the Rockets.”

Dr. Silvera's passion for health started when he was 16 years old when he began reading everything he could get his hands on regarding health and nutrition. He became convinced that health was an inside job and that our bodies heal themselves and maintain wellness, from the inside-out, as long as we have healthy habits and maintain strong, positive thoughts.

After receiving his bachelor's degree from UCLA I went on to study chiropractic at the Los Angeles college of Chiropractic, receiving his doctorate degree and graduating magna cum laude.

He says it's hard to believe that this year is his 39th year in practice! But his passion is as strong as it was, if not stronger, than the first day he began.

He doesn't consider what he does as work, so he never "goes to work". Rather, he looks at what he do as a service that helps people and fulfills himself in the process... a win-win.

He loves what he does and plans on continuing to do it for as long as he physically can.

Dr. Arshia Pourdehghan became part of The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2022 when he joined the teams at clinics in Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Simi Valley, and Ventura. He finds the work very rewarding.

“I am able to have one-on-one time with my patients and attend to their needs and pain,” he says. “I like seeing the relief when I work on patients and their feedback immediately after their adjustment.”

Dr. Arshia, which is what his patients call him, grew up in West HIlls and worked previously in Montebello and Woodland Hills.

His wife, Nooshin, is an accountant and they have a dog named Fingil. Working out, watching TV, and being outdoors are three ways he likes to wind down.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science at California State University, Northridge, Dr. Arshia received a Doctorate in Chiropractic at Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier. He specialized in exercise science and anatomy.

Dr. Arshia became certain about his future in chiropractic after his own experience with injury. “When I had knee pain, a chiropractor was able to help me fix it and get back to my activities of daily living,” he says. “I like that it's all about chiropractic and not all the side treatments.”

He points to an experience while treating the upper body of a patient as one of the most memorable times as a chiropractor. “I relocated a patient’s shoulder and the immediate relief and smile was one of the best moments,” Dr. Arshia says.

In Case You Didn’t Know

If you check Dr. Arshia’s refrigerator and pantry at any time, you’re sure to find milk, eggs, bananas, and steak.

One of the most meaningful experiences he’s ever had was working in the ICU at West Hills Hospital. “Seeing all of those patients in horrible conditions made me value my health much more.”

One of Dr. Arshia’s favorite books is Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari.
