Healthy Foods You Should Be Eating

By Sara Butler

There are some foods in the world that are so completely nutritious, they should be on your to-eat list every single day. When you focus too much on what you cannot eat, then it can feel too restrictive. If you're trying to eat healthily, then focus on the foods you can have to put yourself in a healthier mindset. Here are a few foods that you should eat with gusto when you're trying to be healthy.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens for the win! These vegetables, such as kale, dandelion greens, and spinach, are incredibly good for you. They're full of important vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and even iron. Plus, they're good for more than just a salad base. You can put them in your morning smoothie or breakfast scramble.

Salmon

If you're looking for a great source of lean protein that also happens to be an amazing source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, then look no further than salmon! The American Heart Association recommends that you have two servings of fatty fish like salmon each week, but it doesn't have to be only for dinner. Add it to some toast or a scramble or breakfast or throw it in a salad for lunch.

Olive Oil

Coconut oil may have taken the spotlight over the last couple of years, but if you're looking for an all-around healthy oil to add as a staple in your kitchen, then olive oil is it! It's a healthy fat that's great in salad dressings or to use when cooking and may even help to reduce belly fat in the process.

Berries

Have a sweet tooth that you have a hard time taming? Instead of reaching for foods high in added sugar, go with a natural source of sweetness and reach for some berries. In moderation, fruit makes the perfect dessert or addition to your morning yogurt, oatmeal, or for a snack. They're high in fiber to help balance out their natural sugars too. So, you can eat them confidently and know they won't cause a spike in your blood sugar that leaves you feeling hungry later.

No matter how daunting you find healthy eating, don't doubt that there are good choices out there that you can focus on that are no-brainers in the health department.
