The bad news is that this is a process -- a hard one that takes lots of work and patience. Read Positive Material

Reading positive material can transform your thoughts. Don't consume yourself with the jealousy and comparisons of social media. Buy some self-help books. Look at inspiring quotes on the internet. It doesn't matter how you do it, but fill your life with positive reminders. The more you do this, the more your thoughts will take a positive spin even without your effort. 

Eliminate Negative Influences

If you're surrounded by negative people, you're going to have more negative thoughts. You have to eliminate these people from your life. And if you can't eliminate them, then you have to limit your time around them. Spend your time with people who talk and act in a positive way. You are like the people you hang around with, so if you want to be positive, you have to be around positive people. 

Listen to Yourself

Maybe the hardest part of changing your thoughts is hearing your thoughts in the first place. Your mind is constantly talking. Stop, breathe, sit in a quiet location, and listen to those thoughts.
