Exercises You Should Be Doing Every Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
We’ve all been told to exercise four or five times a week. This is the generic number thrown around when any advice regarding fitness is given. But there are some exercises that are actually even more beneficial if you’re willing to buckle down and do them every day. To get your fitness moving in the right direction and your body fit and toned, take a look at these daily tips.
Stretching
You may not realize just how important this basic exercise is until you’ve done without it for a while. Stretching keeps the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints in your body loose and limber. When these areas get tight, it makes it incredibly difficult to move about and can even create pain that never seems to go away. Whether you go full fledged into a hardcore yoga class or you do a simple stretching routine in the morning, getting in a good stretch can completely transform your health and body.
Squats and Planks
These two exercises are excellent options because they can both be done in the comfort of your own home. You don’t need any equipment, and they will help tone your body in those popular areas … the legs and abs. A squat is done by going from a standing position to a sitting one, but you’ll never actually rest yourself on anything. A plank is done by turning your body into a tabletop, straight and stiff, holding yourself up by the forearms. To get a quick and easy guide for either of these exercises, just do a quick Google search and follow the directions.
Walking
The great thing about walking is that anyone can do it. You don’t have to be super fit or rippling with muscles. Almost anyone, no matter gender, size, or general physical condition, can walk. Walking is a low impact aerobic exercise that builds body strength as well as deepens lung capacity. Go for a walk at anytime of day, and enjoy the fresh air as well as the healthy benefits it brings into your life.
Getting and staying in shape is a tough feat. It requires a lot of patience and persistence. But it can definitely be done as long as you know where to start. Use these basic exercises to get a head start, and tighten and tone your body like never before.
