Controlling Temp May Boost Health

By Tom Herrin

There are plenty of things that are beyond our control, and it can be frustrating.  When we find something that we are actually able to control something, it can provide a good feeling of personal success.  For many people, it has been found that controlling the temperature may have some great benefits.  It is generally believed that most people thrive in temperatures of from 60 to 80 degrees.  There may be more specific ranges for some other things.  People may find much greater success in what they do by identifying the best temperature range.

Sleep at the Right Temp

Lots of people have trouble sleeping. Though they may really have no idea why.  It may be attributed to nutrition, stress, or some other factor.  The truth is that, for many, the right temperature may have a significant impact on how well they are able to sleep.  While it is generally believed that the ideal temperature for anyone is 72 degrees, it has been found that the optimal range for sleep is between 65 and 72 degrees.  It is thought that the ideal temp for sleeping well is 68 degrees.  Some of this is believed to be due to the effect that temperature has on Rapid Eye Movement, which is an important part of sleeping well.

Some Think Temperature Is a Factor in Weight Loss

One of the most critical things that are affected by temperature is weight loss. Many people struggle with finding a way to do so.  In some studies, it has been concluded that the best range for this is 64-67 degrees.  While this is a pretty narrow range, there must be something to it.  Some feel that, for those who can stand it, shivering may increase the rate at which the body burns calories as much as five times.  This is not a bad product for a few minutes of tolerating the cold.

See How It Works

I can attest to the frustration of problems with sleep.  I have had my share of them.  Since I have generally had pretty good success with sleeping when the outside temperatures, I decided to try dropping my thermostat when I went to bed.  Once I tried doing this, it worked well.  I now turn down my thermostat at night at bedtime.  I seem to sleep better with fewer occurrences of waking up during the night.  For me, it is a good plan.
