3 Healthy Habits to Add to Your Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
When most of us think of improving our health, we think of the big things. We imagine the major doctor visits, the sweat drenching workouts, and the handfuls of vitamins that we ought to be taking. While the big things are certainly important in the grand scheme of health, boosting your personal health is probably a lot easier than that. Take a look at these simple additions that you can add to every day to boost your health for a lifetime.
A Glass of Water in the Morning
You may be more excited about your typical morning coffee, but drinking water first thing in the morning can bring some healthy benefits. Believe it or not, a cold cup of water can help to wake you up. Those who use this as a morning pick me up actually claim that it works as well as a cup of coffee. A glass in the morning can also stimulate digestion and metabolism to get moving. The best part about this tip? It’s really easy. It takes very little time, zero effort, and still brings a ton of healthy benefits to the body and mind.
A Stretch Before Bed
Most of us associate stretching with the early morning, but stretching just before bed is a great habit to incorporate into your day. It allows the body to relax and loosen up before sleep. After a deep stretch, it’s often easier to melt into bed and subsequently get a better night’s rest. This is another really easy step to add to your routine. It only takes an extra few minutes, and you can do it in the comfort of your own bedroom without much effort at all.
A Walk Outside
Spending time outside brings so much good to the body. And the best way to do this? Just take a relaxing stroll. Around the block, down a trail, on a track. It doesn’t matter where you go, it’s just important that you get outside in the fresh air for a very simple exercise. While you can do this any time of the day, taking this walk right after dinner may bring about the most benefit and the deepest relaxation.
Improving your health is probably a little easier than you imagined. While changing up your diet or joining a fitness class are certainly good ideas, there are easier ways to boost health as well. Try adding these simple tips to your daily routine, and you’ll likely find at least a small boost in your mental and physical health as a result.
