Cooking Healthy Made the Easy Way

By Stephen R. Farris

No matter if you are a stay-at-home adult, or working adult, trying to accomplish all the things that need to be done throughout the day can be draining. Then there's the evening dinner and deciding what to fix for you and your family to eat.

But have no fear, here are six ways to provide your family with delicious, healthy meals prepared by you in your own kitchen.

Gather Around Gang

OK, here's the plan. Make a plan. Yes, that's right, it's that simple. Plan your meals in advance, down to the last smidgen of salt. On grocery day, or prior to, sit down and map out what your family likes to eat on a regular basis. Maybe add a few nice surprises to mix things up. List all of the ingredients and spices you'll need. Then go do some shopping. But to make sure we're on the right page, this list should be for all meals cooked at home during the week, not just for one or two days.

You May Need a Bigger Freezer

Hopefully you won't, but the logic behind this is to choose a day to meal prep then store those meals in your freezer until needed.

Be Creative, Not Methodical

By now you should be able to cook a lot of dishes with your eyes closed. Just don't try doing it, you might end up with third degree burns or poke an eye out or something. Anyway, instead of simply always following a recipe to the last letter, improvise. Add a different splash of spice, or throw in some baby spinach. This beats eating the same exact dish all the time.

No Need to Go Overboard

Of course, you can if you want. You are the cook, but to make things easier simply prepare your main dish and go with quick and easy side dishes, such as broccoli, carrots, green beans, spinach or other choices you and your family enjoy. Save the casserole style sides for special occasions.

Kitchen Gadgets Should Be Used

You probably have all kinds of cool kitchen gadgets. Maybe it's an air fryer, or slow cooker and a roaster. Don't be afraid to turn those gadgets on. They're great for making one-stop meals like roast and potatoes, chicken and vegetable dishes and other healthy, delectable delights as well. Plus they're easy to bag, contain and freeze to use later.
