Find Out How Yoga Reinforces Everything Else
By Sandy Schroeder
You may have other favorite activities, like walking, biking, or swimming, but yoga will make them all better.
I discovered yoga some time ago, and I have been amazed at how much it has done for me. I tend to sit and read or hunch over my laptop way too much, but yoga got me out of that chair and onto a mat to activate all of the other parts of my life.
When I started yoga, I was also overloaded with stress, coping with a job that I loved and tolerating a difficult boss. The minute I settled onto my yoga mat I could feel the tension lifting. Months later, I looked better, felt better, and moved on to a new job. Yoga helped make it all possible.
Harvard Health says, "No pill has the power to improve so many areas of your life all at once like yoga."

Where to Try It
Consider what you want from yoga and then speak to a yoga instructor or look online. Local hospitals, park and recreation facilities, churches, and libraries have also become yoga resources. Yoga offers everything from chair yoga to hot yoga. From beginners to advanced efforts, there is a spot for everyone. Look closer.
Become stronger, more limber and better coordinated - Simple poses like downward dog, tree pose and cat and cow poses can improve your balance, posture and strength.
Learn to relax as you breathe and meditate - You don't have to become a pretzel to benefit from yoga's deep relaxation methods that ease the mind and the body.
Ease joint or nerve pain - Move through one pose after another and regain flexibility as you shed stress and boost your spirit.
Power other activities - Enjoy improved coordination and strength on the court, on the green, or out for a run.
Take an inventory of your health and activities, and then try adding a weekly yoga session. Do the research to find the right yoga for you. As always, check with your doctor first before beginning new exercise routines. Then find the right one for you.
