3 Ways to Fight the Effects of Aging

No one really enjoys the aging process. We all want to get older, sure. But aging? Wrinkles? Sun spots? Achy joints? No thanks! Unfortunately, some of the signs of wear and tear on the body are inevitable. But the good news is that there are things that you can do to make the aging process easier and more enjoyable. If you’re ready to feel better about your body and life as the years go by, take a look at these tips for fighting the effects of aging starting today.

Prevention

Prevention is key. It’s possible that you’ve been neglecting all anti-aging prevention strategies, and you may think that it’s simply too late. The bad news is that some of the damage can’t be undone. The good news is that preventing further damage can happen now. You may have some wrinkles -- but using a good anti-wrinkle cream may help soften them. You may have sun spots -- but using a skin corrector and sunscreen may help prevent the accumulation of new ones. It’s OK if you haven’t been perfect at prevention. Just start now and prevent more problems in the future.

Moisturize

We often don’t understand the importance of moisturizer until we’re much older. When we’re young, we feel fine in our own skin, even if it’s dry. But as we age, dry skin can lead to premature wrinkles, thin skin, and an ashy appearance. How do you avoid this? Just moisturize. And do it multiple times per day. Put on a good moisturizer (with sunscreen) when you wake up. At lunch, reapply. In the afternoon, reapply again. And before bed, moisturize with a good night cream. It might seem like overkill, but keeping the skin moist is key in keeping it soft and supple.

Exercise

Nothing beats moving the body. We need movement in order to keep our muscles strong, our bodies flexible, and our balance intact. Unfortunately, many skip this step, and in the long run, their bodies pay the price. Even if you haven’t exercised in years, start today. Go for a walk. Check out that lunchtime yoga class. Take a swim. Just get out and get moving every day. You may be surprised at how much this improves the way your body feels in the long run.

Aging is OK. It’s OK to get wrinkles. It’s OK to grow older and gain wisdom. Some people never get the chance. But it’s also OK to prevent as many of the side effects as you can. Use these tips to soften the aging process and feel better in your own skin starting today.
