Home Is Where the Health Is
By Donna Stark
Have you just about had it with staying home all the time? Do you feel as if you are experiencing the worst case of cabin fever ever? Understandably, the mental health of many people has taken a serious hit in the last couple of months and maybe you are finding that you have been hit as well. If it feels as if time is moving at a turtle's pace, that there are just too many hours in the day, and that you have nothing to do to fill those hours, keep reading. Here are a few ways that you can stay busy and improve your overall well-being in the process.
Deep Clean Your Home
There's a good chance that you have already cleaned your home, but have you taken the time to really deep clean it? Have you tackled your closets, organized the pantry, or even ventured into your child's room to look underneath the bed? There is no better time than now to clear the clutter and pack unused items away to make more space in your house. Donate some of it to charity, sell some of it online, and put the rest in their proper places so you know where they are when it's time to use them.
Tap Into Your Creative Side
Have you always wanted to learn how to foxtrot or carry a tune? Has your dream of publishing a book been pushed to the back-burner because life has taken you down a different path? Use this time wisely then. Get back into your old hobbies, tap into your hidden talents, or take a seat and get writing! It's a great way to stay busy, reduce stress, and find your love again.
Work on Your Body
Virtual workouts are all the rage right now and for good reason! Many people still haven't set foot back into their gyms but that doesn't mean they have given up on their workouts. They are able to continue with their exercises by logging onto their laptops or turning their televisions on for their workouts, and you can do that too. Afraid of missing your friends? Don't worry! Just set your workout space outside and invite them to join you. Everyone can get fit together!
Self-Care Measures at Home
It is easy to kill those long hours at home by doing things that will benefit you in the long run, but the best part about giving the above suggestions a try is that you will be able to improve your overall well-being in the process. And who knows? You may even find your time at home to be more enjoyable than ever!
