Getting Started With Weight Loss
By Stephen R. Farris
At any given time of the year, you may find yourself wanting to shed a few unwanted pounds. The reasons are endless. It could be that your clothes are fitting a little tighter than usual and harder to button up those jeans. Or it might be that you decided to make a resolution to get into better shape.
Whatever the reason may be, starting an exercise routine and developing healthier eating habits can benefit your overall health. However, it's not always an easy task to begin. Choosing the right diet plan can prove difficult since there are so many different ones available. But the best way to start is to look at several tried and true formulas that will help get you started.
Water
Studies show that drinking water at least an hour before meals can increase your metabolism and help you eat less calories.
Coffee
Drinking coffee can also increase your metabolism, due to the caffeine in it. Coffee is packed with antioxidants too, giving you even more added health benefits. The best way to drink coffee is without any additives, such as sweeteners and creamers.
Smaller Portions and Counting Calories
If you implement the above suggestions, switching to smaller portions at mealtime can help with weight loss. If you've decided to go with a 2,000 calorie per day diet (for example), stay in range. One of the best actions you can take is to keep a journal of your daily progress and record all steps you've taken per day.
Keep Healthy Snacks on Supply
There's nothing worse than following all the steps, only to be sabotaged by snacking on unhealthy food in between meals. It sort of defeats the purpose and you might not be getting the results your trying to achieve. There are plenty of healthy snack choices available, such as fruit, nuts and vegetables that can keep your hunger satisfied before your next meal.
Add Exercise
While staying with a strict diet plan, compliment it with some exercise. Experts say that getting in at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise, such as walking, cycling, swimming and/or aerobics (yoga, etc.) can help you burn even more calories and assist you in losing weight.
