Wear the Right Shoes to Prevent Foot Pain

Foot pain can be debilitating, rendering people unable to get around like they once could. Wearing the right shoes can prevent this from happening. A good pair of shoes can go a long way in keeping foot pain at bay and protecting overall health of the feet.

Avoid High Heels

High heels put a tremendous amount of pressure on the feet. They can quickly lead to serious problems, such as strained calves, bunions, low back pain, and plantar fasciitis. Although it’s recommended not to wear heels, many women still do. If you feel you must wear a pair then at least do yourself a favor and keep them under two inches. Any more than that will put too much strain on the body and cause serious discomfort.

Try on Shoes for a Comfortable Fit

It’s always best to physically try on a pair of shoes before buying them. Avoid purchasing shoes online simply because they appear stylish. People need to try on a pair of shoes and make sure they provide a comfortable fit before making the decision to buy them. If they feel in any way uncomfortable, skip them and try another pair. It’s important to walk around in them as well to get a true feel for how they will be.

Avoid Shoes Made From Synthetic Fibers

If the inside of the shoe has synthetic fibers it has an easier chance of causing sweat to pool within. This can lead to the foot rubbing around inside the shoe and causing blisters, not to mention athlete’s foot due to the bacteria. Porous materials are a far better option. The shoe needs to be breathable and able to wick away sweat and moisture to keep the foot dry and therefore free from discomfort.

Get Shoes With Shock Absorption

Hard surfaces can wreak havoc on the feet. Whether people are simply standing on them for an extended timeframe or doing exercises, the hard ground can put too much shock on the feet and cause extreme discomfort. Getting shoes with shock absorption helps prevent this. An option that is flat yet slightly elevated with a heel and has a cushioned midsole works well for this problem.
