Add Nutrition and Exercise to Your Day

By Brandi Goodman

Diet and exercise are both important parts of good health. You won't truly be healthy if you aren't eating nutritious foods and staying physically active. Do your best to add nutrition and exercise to your day using any method you can.

Play With Your Kids

If your kids are riding bikes, join them. If they get on the swings, you swing too. Playing with your kids and joining in on their fun activities is a great way to add exercise to your day. You'll get some fitness in while also spending quality time with your children. It's a win-win.

Dance While You Clean

Cleaning your house is a never-ending chore. Make your time cleaning more fun by adding dancing to the mix. As you dance around your house getting your tasks accomplished, you'll be burning a lot of calories. It's a fun way to tackle chores and get fit.

Park Far Away

Any time you head out, whether it's to the store, to drop off a library book, to rent a movie from a kiosk, or any other errands you may have, park far away. Pulling into the closest space to the door won't give you much time to walk. Parking farther away means you'll be walking for a longer interval and therefore getting more exercise.

Cook Dinner With Your Family

Spending time cooking together can also be a great bonding experience. Cook a healthy dinner with your family so everyone contributes and gets to see the nutritious ingredients being put into the meal. A homemade pizza can be fun for everyone. Make sure you're starting with a whole wheat dough for the crust and offer lots of veggie options.

Add a Fruit and Vegetable to Every Meal

You should be getting at least a few servings of fruit and vegetables each day. To make sure this happens, add a fruit and vegetable to every meal. If you plan on having meat and potatoes, for example, then add some apple slices or peaches on the side. Say you made pasta. A scoop of carrots and some pears on the side can help fill you up. It cuts back on calories that might otherwise be consumed eating a second helping of the main course and boosts your vitamin intake.

Diet and exercise are necessary considerations when it comes to health. Do what you can to incorporate nutritional foods into your daily menu and get active when you can. Watch your health and wellness start to improve when you make changes.
