If the Wheels Go Around, It May Mean Less Stress

By Tom Herrin

Exercise is one of those things most people need more of in order to achieve better health.  Part of the reason is that so many jobs tend to make people complacent.  This is not so much because they are unmotivated as it is that most jobs today involve a lot of things that do not require much physical activity.  As a result, they must search for the exercise that they just fail to get in their everyday lives.  Bicycle riding is one of those activities that can be affordable and fairly easy to begin.  Most people have experience in riding from their childhood.

It Can Be A Good Aerobic Exercise

Exercises are usually broken into a couple of different types.  One is the type that people commonly see when they are watching someone sprinting, hitting a ball, or lifting weights.  This is called anaerobic exercise.  This happens when the body has short bursts of activity where power is the purpose.  A considerable amount of oxygen is used in the rapid muscle action, but they tire quickly.  The other type of exercise is aerobic.  In this type, oxygen is steadily used and replaced by the body.  It builds endurance and can strengthen the heart and improve circulation.  It is the most desirable type for general conditioning.

It Can Be Easy On The Joints

Many activities are stressful on the joints of the body.  The impact of the striking of the feet on the surface can deal some misery.  This can affect the feet, ankles, knees, and hips.  Low impact activities such as riding a bicycle can provide good exercise while limiting the impact.  This allows the joints to be moved freely and still have the surrounding muscles to be worked.  It can be a great combination.

It Can Help With Routine Activities

Riding a bicycle can help to improve coordination, balance, and visual judgment.  These same abilities are used in everyday life.  When you can combine these with improved conditioning gained from riding, it can truly be helpful in the lives of people searching for self-improvement.  The result is better overall health with a better functioning body with less stress.  With the low cost of a bicycle and the low-tech skills used in riding, it can be a great choice.  Once you try it, you are sure to enjoy it.  That may be all it takes for you to get hooked.
