Save Time While Exercising
By Tom Herrin
The idea of squeezing in more with the time available is not new. People have been trying to accomplish it for years. Schedules are often so busy that it seems impossible. For those who are dedicated to their exercise program, they may see cutting time as compromising their efforts. In turn, they feel they will lose ground or see less results. It may sound that way, but the truth is a good workout may be had in a much shorter period of time than many believe. As with so many things, they need a good plan and a drive to execute it. This may be much easier than many would believe.
Runners Can Cut With No Loss
Some people love getting out and running. It can be a great way to exercise, but when time is limited, it can make them feel like they are caught in a tug-of-war between their activity and their busy schedule. The result may be increased stress as they try to juggle this. Many studies have shown that people can experience good results with running for far less time. Running for less than 10 minutes may be all it takes to build protection from heart disease. They simply need to run on a regular basis. It seems that the routine of such may be a key to success.
Don't Worry, Be Happy
At one time, a popular saying (and song) encouraged people to enjoy life without adding stress. A Japanese study found that people who rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes per day were happier. They were also able to perform many activities that required them to have mental alertness and good reaction time. This small bit of exercise could be an easy recipe for improving health.
Have Fun
We will all be better off if we if we find some kind of physical activity that we like doing. I enjoy riding a bicycle, so I do so whenever I get the opportunity. It may be nothing more than a good ride around a couple of blocks. I feel that if I can get a good 10 or 15 minutes, I can feel the difference. Another thing I may do is walk on a treadmill. I will do so and slowly increase the speed on a steady basis so that I am up to a fairly brisk pace. It seems to make me feel better, and I'll be finished with my session in only a few minutes.
