Workout Little by Little and Support Health
By Tom Herrin
Exercising to make gains takes some determination. If you don't stay with it, you will never see any kind of measurable progress. For some, this means grabbing every available minute to work out. In some cases, this may take away from work and/or family time. Of course, this can undo all of the good that may come from it. If you are trying to make an exercise program work, you can still be successful by breaking it up into mini sessions several times throughout the day. With each one lasting only 10 or 15 minutes at a time, you can work on one part of the body with each session and make progress.
Be Sure to Have Some Cardio
If you are into regular exercise, you will spend some time on a track or treadmill. Getting in miles can do a lot. In mini sessions, you can be sure to have some jogging in place. You can add something such as arm movements to increase the amount of activity involved. Lunges are pretty useful as they will get your whole body going. Some people may add jumping rope, but the point is to be as creative as possible and keep moving.
Work on the Chest
Most people want to develop the chest. There are all kinds of things you can do, but I like to begin and end my workout with push-ups. If done correctly, they can improve posture and tone the upper body. Carrying yourself correctly can help support the chest. There are a few different kinds of presses you may do as well. I always liked to do some kind of butterflies while lying on a bench. I feel like dumbbells work best for me here as they are simple to use.
Don't Forget the Lower Body
If you are limited on time and space, squats are not bad. If you have stairs, climbing them will always work out your legs. There is a good variety of things you can do with sliding something while using the legs. You just want to let the legs do the work and avoid using your back. If you have something with weight, doing squats or climbing while holding them will do quite a bit. Remember to go easy on the knees and try to isolate the major muscles of the legs.
