Going for a Jog? Take This Advice

By Virginia Laird

As an avid jogger, I have had my share of jogging successes and failures. One thing I have learned is that you do not have to be able to jog extremely long distances to enjoy your run or feel like you have accomplished something. Fitness experts advise there are a few simple tips for jogging that can help you feel successful about your jog, including:

  • Jog with a friend
  • Begin jogging short distances
  • Download good music
  • Wear the right clothes

Jog with a Friend

Working out is always more fun with a friend or two. Having a friend can help keep you motivated and focused. Begin considering who your exercise buddy can be and invite them to join your routine today. Don’t be too concerned if your workout friend is not in shape, this is the goal the two of you can reach together.

Begin Jogging Short Distances

Fitness experts advise that one of the major factors in having a successful run is to begin by jogging short distances. Trying to accomplish too much in the beginning can prevent you from having the desire to continue your jogging journey. Fitness gurus remind clients that there is no shame in needing to take it slowly or even walk from time to time. Remember that overdoing can bring on injury.

Download Good Music

For me, a long run is best accomplished with the assistance of good music. This does not always include your favorite songs. Rather, this should be a list of songs which have good beats, as well as songs which can offer some motivation. If you are one who enjoys listening to music while you run, make sure to fully charge your devices to make sure they will last the length of your jog.

Wear the Right Clothes

Whether you know it or not, there are some clothes that are better suited for running. Health and wellness experts suggest this includes clothes of the dry-fit type. Cotton clothing can hold sweat for too long, which can become heavier and not allow the body to breathe easily. There is no need to run out a spend a ton of money on clothing. For short runs, cotton can be just fine. Fitness professionals suggest you make the best of what you have to get your journey going.

Remember, it is never too late to begin putting your health first. Jogging is a great way to start doing just that. Now is the time to hit the trail and get your jog on. Happy jogging!
