Manage Blood Pressure With No Meds

With the number of people who deal with high blood pressure today, the market for medication is a big one. Some even take multiple types to do various things. The end result is often adding more as the body continues to become increasingly tolerant. On the other hand, many individuals end up needing help with blood pressure because of poor lifestyle choices. When this is the case, a few good changes may be enough to turn things around. If this is all it takes to get blood pressure on track, it seems like a waste to settle for medication.
Add Some Regular Exercise
Many people get too busy to take time for exercise. It becomes more critical once they have some kind of health issue to deal with. High blood pressure tends to respond well to exercise for many people. If nothing else, it could be well worth your effort to try something. Simply waking may be enough. If you can start small and build up to 30 minutes, you may see results that could be significant. The exercise can be relatively moderate and still be effective.
Cut Back on Caffeine
A lot of people drink some kind of caffeinated beverage each day. In some cases, this can increase blood pressure. An easy way to check this is take your blood pressure shortly after drinking one of these drinks. If this is the case with you, there are lots of options. There are drinks that have reduced caffeine and some with no caffeine. It may be worth trying one of these. As much as some people drink in one day, this switch could have a pretty big effect on their health.
Be on Alert
The more you know about your blood pressure, the better off you will be. If you can check it daily, it may give you a much better idea of how you are doing. There are plenty of inexpensive blood pressure monitors on the market that are relatively low priced. They are also really easy to use. Some of them store your information so that you can keep track on a regular basis. We use one at our home. Anytime I see that my blood pressure is higher than I would like, I make a small adjustment and it seems to respond well. It is, at least, worth giving a try.
