Transition Through the Seasons in Good Health

By Donna Stark

The transition from hot, hazy, and humid days to cool, crisp, and clear days to dark, cold, and dreary days can be a challenge for many. However, challenges are meant to be overcome! You just need to know what to do and, fortunately, your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic are here to help! Take a peek at the following tips that will help you and your loved ones navigate the next few months of transitions and end the year feeling like champs!

Eat Healthily

Your body needs a boost to its immune system because it's not just the fall and winter seasons heading your way ... cold and flu season is too! Buy in-season foods and try to consume more foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin C. Make sure you are getting plenty of sunlight too because Vitamin D is critical during the colder months.

Stay Connected

Isolation and loneliness can have a profound effect on your overall well-being, so try to maintain your connections with friends and family. Meet up for a weekly cup of coffee, enjoy a movie together, or sign up for an art or fitness class. Just do your best to avoid hibernating by yourself as much as possible.

Keep Moving

Stay active! No matter how tempting it is to remain in your pajamas and snuggle under your favorite blanket during the day, you will be doing more good for your body if you get moving! Grab your jacket and go for a brisk walk, head to the gym with your significant other, or plan a fun outdoor excursion with friends.

Fall Clean Your Home

Think cleaning is only for the spring? Think again! This is the perfect time to get your house in order for the upcoming holidays. Organize closets, clean out the clutter from the guest bedroom, and rid your pantry of all the expired food that has accumulated. Remember, a clean home is a healthy home.

Engage Your Mind

If you do want to spend a little bit of time under that snuggly blanket, why don't you do something that will give your brain a workout? Reading, putting together a puzzle, or making a craft are excellent ways to pass the time. In addition to the relaxation it brings, engaging in a hobby is also good for your moods and the health of your brain.

Easy Transitions

The most important thing to remember when transitioning from one season to the next is to be kind to yourself. Listen to your body and take care of its needs. The months ahead are busy and stressful, so engage in as many positive actions as you can!
