Discover How Chiropractic and Yoga May Energize You
By Sandy Schroeder
More and more people are talking about chiropractic’s amazing ability to energize lives, and yoga often builds on that experience. If that sounds good, this may be the time to discover both.
See Your Chiropractor
Stop by The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you to find out more about the wellness center where doctors of chiropractic provide real answers for health, wellness and fitness.
When you come in, your chiropractor will want to hear about your lifestyle, aches and pains, and medical history. A gentle targeted spinal adjustment may help to clear up aches and pains, and provide a new feeling of well-being.
Wellness is unique to each person. As you evaluate your experience, you may find weekly 15-minute spinal adjustments work beautifully to keep you at your peak. At that point, you may want to explore new fitness, health and wellness options such as yoga.
Discover Yoga
I discovered yoga several years ago when I was stressed out over a job. The minute I settled onto my yoga mat I knew I had found a way to let go of some of that stress. Weekly classes were a life-saver. Later, as I changed jobs and moved on with my life, the yoga class continued to be my refuge. By then I had discovered how much it did for my range of motion, upper body strength and balance. I felt comfortable in my body again.
If you want to try yoga, go observe a class and talk with a certified yoga instructor about your fitness goals or physical issues. Then go for it!
On the Wellness Path
You and your yoga mat may become fast friends with early morning yoga, yoga during the day after lunch, and yoga in the evening to help you sleep. There are also yoga poses that you can do while you are sitting in traffic or standing in your kitchen chopping vegetables for dinner.
Here are a some yoga poses from EasyHealthOptions.com to try. As always, check with your doctor for approval before beginning a new exercise.
Mountain Pose - Stand tall with feet together. Drop arms to the side. Relax shoulders. Take a deep breath, raise hands to the ceiling with palms facing each other, arms straight. Exhale and move on to the next pose.
Cow/cat pose - Start on hands and knees on your mat with wrists under shoulders, knees under hips. Spine should be flat, head aligned with spine. Inhale and drop belly down and look up. Exhale and pull spine up. Round the back and drop head down. Focus on breath and repeat.
