Three Things Your Chiropractor Wants You to Know
By Sara Butler
There are a lot of reasons people seek out chiropractic care. For most people, they are in pain and need help to find relief. For others, they’ve injured themselves during an activity and need help to get on the road to recovery. Still, others simply use chiropractic care as preventative care to help them avoid pain and injury. There are so many reasons but if you want to know the truth, there are only three things the chiropractors at The Joint want you to know that you can do on your own in order to stay healthy, happy, and pain-free in between your chiropractic adjustments.
Watch Your Posture
Your grandmother was really onto something all those years ago when she gave you grief about your poor posture. Practicing poor posture during any activity can spell trouble for your overall chiropractic health and wellness. Make sure when you’re sitting that your body is lined up properly, that your computer at work is set up to keep your posture healthy, and that you take the time to stretch during the day. At least once every hour when you’re sitting or standing, you need to take the time to break out of the posture you’ve been sitting in for a while and get your body moving. This way, you’re more likely to practice good posture and be less tired from holding a position for too long.
Drink Water
Staying hydrated is important for the health of your organs but it’s also important for the health of your joints! Your joints stay lubricated and can move as they were made to better when you’re fully hydrated. Plus, the discs that cushion the bones in your spine need plenty of water to do their job correctly. Without enough water, they can’t absorb shock or move your spine as well as they should. So, drink plenty of water to keep your body and joints working well!
Sleep Well
Sleep is important and necessary to normal function. If you don’t get enough sleep and you sleep without proper support, it can wreak havoc on your body. Ensure your body is well supported as you sleep by using pillows to support your neck and hips. Also invest in a mattress that offers proper support, making sure to replace your mattress at least every 10 years.
These aren’t difficult steps to follow but doing them can make a big impact on your health between visits to the chiropractors at The Joint!
