Safe Shopping Tips From the Chiropractor
By Brandi Goodman
So you're going shopping. You may not think much of the activity, aside from what you need to buy. The truth of the matter is, you should be thinking a lot more about how your shopping trip is going to go. You need to keep some chiropractic tips in mind if you want to have a safe, pain-free experience.
See the Chiropractor
If you're just running to the store on your weekly grocery-get, you should be fine enough. If you plan on shopping for hours as a way to ease stress, or it's the holiday season and you're getting gifts, it's wise to see a chiropractor. Shopping is just like any other physical activity. You need to be sure your body is prepared for the excursion, especially if you know you'll be gone for hours or going multiple times in one month.
Stretch Well
Because shopping is another physical activity, you need to stretch like you would with anything else you were going to do. Make sure to stretch out your legs and lower body in particular so you can be sure they're up to par for all the walking that needs to get done. You'll have thousands of feet to walk at a department store, and even more if you're going to the mall. A few stretches will help you make it through.
Choose Appropriate Footwear
A pair of high heels won't suffice for shopping -- nor any activity. You won't be able to make it long into your shopping trip before your feet and legs are aching. Instead, choose appropriate footwear that helps provide cushion and comfort. You shouldn't have horribly hurting feet after just a few hours spent walking around a store.
Put Bags in the Car Between Stores
You don't want to overload your arms with bags. When you're at the mall, be sure to make trips back to your car between store visits. You can put your first bag or two away before going into the next place for more. Trying to carry all bags from one shop to the next will only end in pain -- not to mention how in the way they'll be as you try to choose products.
You also have the option of shopping online rather than going to a store at all. Although, you may not want to miss out on the exercise. When you're shopping in person, make sure you're keeping these chiropractic tips in mind so it can be a safe experience. You can shop without returning home with aches and pains if you make better shopping decisions.
