Seasoning May Add to Better Health
By Tom Herrin
Sometimes the simplest of things can be a great help for improving health. Finding the right foods is always helpful, but there are some seasonings that may be very beneficial as well. One of the most popular kinds is garlic. It has been used for years in many parts of the world with what seems like pretty good success. While people may not have understood why, it has some really good effects on many parts of health. And even though it may have a bad reputation for its sometimes unpleasant odor, many forms of garlic now have virtually no odor at all, making it much more acceptable for use.
It May Improve Immunities
Garlic contains a compound called allicin. This seems to have the ability to kill some microbes and help prevent infection from beginning. It appears to have some antiviral and antifungal properties that may go an additional step in maintaining good health. It is certainly enough to warrant consideration as a daily supplement. Garlic may be the most widely accepted item that is included in meals to help with immunities.
It May Help With Asthma
There seems to an increasing number of people with respiratory problems today. Some of this is likely due to the many pollutants that are released in the air. Some of it may be due to other increases in various allergens. Either way, people may have reactions to them in a way that can cause a variety of problems. Some people have found that garlic may reduce the hypersensitivity to any of these that may cause asthma. For asthmatics, anything that may offer relief is worth looking at.
It May Improve Blood Pressure
Another common use of garlic is for regular treatment of blood pressure. A lot of people consume it frequently and feel certain it helps with keeping their blood pressure in check. In one study of people who took medication to control blood pressure with poor success, taking one gram per day of garlic seemed to lower blood pressure. The polysulfides in garlic appear to help improve the flexibility of the blood vessels thereby reducing the stress on them. Regular consumption of it may serve as good way to maintain blood pressure at acceptable levels as part of a whole-health approach.
