Jump on the Chance to Enjoy Some Fall Heath

By Tom Herrin

If people are looking for an opportunity to create a healthier lifestyle, the fall may be the easiest time to do it.  They no longer have to deal with that oppressive heat of the summer.  The pleasant days and cooler nights of the fall are much more conducive to physical activity.  People can be active without the fear of becoming exhausted and overheating.  Recovery from almost any kind of activity is much easier.  The fall air is so inviting that many people simply enjoy merely being outdoors in just about any endeavor.

Work Can Be A Workout

Whether or not they like it, most people who live in a house have to deal with leaves.  It seems simple enough, but the thing is that once the leaves start falling, it is often "Katy, bar the door" because they keep right on coming.  Every time you walk out the door, you may very well see more.  It can seem an insurmountable challenge.  Raking leaves can burn as many as 400 calories an hour.  Since people are piling and bagging leaves as they go, it seems more like they are achieving a goal than working out.  There will probably be weeks of good workouts in store.

Don’t Be Afraid to Have Fun

There is nothing wrong with having fun.  Many people feel as if they are doing something they shouldn’t if they are having fun.  This is not true.  There are some really good things in the fall that are just plain fun.  Corn mazes have become increasingly popular.  People can go to one and get a good mental physical workout.  They are an ideal group activity.  It provides a good opportunity to socialize and compete.  Many people will get hooked and try to find more mazes during the season.

Be Daring and Try Some New Recipes

With all the selection of foods available from the fall harvest, there are plenty to choose from.  Pick something out, find a fitting recipe, and take your chances at preparing something completely new and different.  It can pose a real challenge, but it can be a fun family or group activity.  These can be healthy and broaden the spectrum of your meal selections.  Healthier food choices and healthy activities add up to a healthier lifestyle.
