Break Away From the Indoors for Better Health
By Tom Herrin
Most people spend the majority of their lives indoors. It may not be that they dislike the outdoors, but the large majority of jobs are indoors. Except for those few occupations that take place otherwise, it is pretty much a fact of life. Even when many people think of getting a little exercise, it may take place indoors as well. For those who would like to break away from all of that, the outdoors are calling. Who doesn't enjoy beautiful, natural scenery? Most like it but often think of it as simply that, scenery. A simple way to boost health a little bit is to do some camping. There are lots of places to do it, and it may offer some really good things in the way of better health.
It May Mean Better Sleep
Plenty of people find themselves short on sleep. It is not so much that they don't want to get more but that all of the distractions around interfere with it. According to a study by the University of Colorado, spending time outdoors more involved with nature may help sleep. It seems that when people sleep outdoors, they tend to adjust their schedules to that of the sun. This may mean getting up when it rises and going to bed near the time it sets. The study also showed that levels of melatonin may be better balanced.
It May Increase the Supply of Vitamin D
Everyone needs Vitamin D, but many people are deficient in it. Having an adequate amount may help to prevent some cancers, high blood pressure, and heart disease. There are more benefits. Most people do not get it from their food but from the sun. Spending time outdoors may help to increase the supply and improve health.
It May Help Improve Relationships
Most of us can stand some work on our relationships. It is not because we are difficult to get along with but because we may tend to become isolated from others due to our schedules. Work and other activities can distract us and prevent us from devoting time to building relationships. Camping together may be an opportunity to set many of those distractions aside and spend quality time working together. It can be inexpensive and easy to do. If you haven't been in a while, it may be good thing to try.
