Creativity In Your Diet Can Improve Your Health

By Tom Herrin

When people have a desire to eat healthy, there are lot of concepts out there to incorporate.  I had someone tell me that they needed to eat a good breakfast every day that included bacon, eggs, sausage, and a couple of other things.  Those things are good at some times, but for people looking to improve their health through diet, they probably could stand to ease off of the heavy breakfast.  They would be better off with either more variety or a much lighter meal on most days.  The same could be said with other meals.  While heavy meals can be acceptable at times, a good way to start a healthy lifestyle would be to have a salad once every day.

Salads Are Packed With Fiber

The green leafy vegetables in salad can usually be a major source of good fiber.  This can be great for several things.  Soluble fibers can help lower cholesterol while insoluble fibers can clean out the digestive system and help prevent colon problems.  Fibers also help to make people feel fuller for a longer period of time.  As a result of these things, fibers can help with weight loss.

A Good Salad Has Good Protein

Many people have the old idea that salads are all veggies and no meat.  That can be pretty bland.  Good salads should contain a good kind of protein.  They should have some kind of low fat product, maybe lean meat or cheese.  They can also contain nuts, eggs, beans, or maybe a few other things.  It is important to include a generous amount of protein in a salad.  It makes a really complete meal for anyone.

Variety Is The Real Spice of Life

There are so many things that can be added to a salad, the list is almost endless.  Many people add tomatoes, peppers of all colors, black and/or green olives, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, avocados, and about every other thing imaginable.  Using good oils can improve ability to digest some foods and nutrients.  In order to make salad be a substantial part of a regular diet, changing it up every day can add the variety most people enjoy.  If you are looking for something to improve the quality of your diet, adding salads can be the real deal.  When prepared right, they can help you to have more energy and improve strength unlike what many people imagined.
