Inexpensive Equipment That Can Change Your Body
By Genevieve Cunningham
So you’re ready to change your life by getting fit. You find pictures for motivation, buy some exercise clothes and shoes, and schedule time in your day for a trip to the gym. And then you look at the gym prices. Yikes! Who knew getting fit could be so expensive? Don’t lose hope! Fortunately, getting your body in shape doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Take a look at these small pieces of equipment that are inexpensive, home friendly, and will still get you in some of the best shape of your life.
A Bicycle
If you want a good workout, try buying one of these old gems! At one point in time, bicycles were everywhere, but we see them less and less in today’s world. You can get a decent bicycle for somewhere between $60 and $120. And you can probably find one cheaper if you’re willing to buy something used. Grab a bike, ride as much as you want, and you’ll improve your cardio and burn massive calories all in one go.
A Foam Roller
Foam rollers are heaven. They look like a long cylinder made of foam, and they are made for working out sore muscles. One of the reasons many quit their workout is because it hurts! While foam rollers won’t take away all of the pain, they’ll help alleviate some of that soreness and leave you ready to continue your fitness journey. And most of the time, they can be found for less than $25!
A Jump Rope
This $5 purchase brings a ton of good to your body. Jumping rope is tough! It burns calories, tires the muscles, and really expands the lungs. You’ll likely only jump for one or two minutes before really feeling the burn. But stick with this old-timey favorite, and your fitness will improve like never before.
Resistance Bands
Expect to spend between $10 and $20 for resistance bands, but you’ll get an assortment of tensions and lengths. Resistance bands are excellent substitutes for weights. Will they do everything that weights will do? No way. But they will give you a great headstart. Just use these bands to work the arms and legs (find tutorials online!), and increase the intensity of the bands as you get better and more efficient at each move.
Don’t ever let money stand in the way of your health and well-being. If you’re determined enough, there are always ways to get around the high prices and still get the body of your dreams. Invest in some of these pieces of equipment, and you’ll be off to a great start. Be consistent and patient, and your fitness dream is sure to follow your positive attitude and willingness to do what it takes.
