Inexpensive Tips for Boosting the Immune System
By Genevieve Cunningham
With fall in the air and winter just around the corner, now is a great time to think about boosting the immune system. Colds and flus and other illnesses are rampant at this time of year, so the stronger you make the immune system, the better off your overall health will be. But how can we boost our immunities? And with the holidays already biting at our wallets, how do we do it for an inexpensive price tag? If you would like to stay healthy this season without breaking the bank, take a look at these tips.
Take Some Vitamin C
Vitamin C is not expensive, but it still makes a big impact on your health. This vitamin is known for its ability to strengthen the body’s natural germ fighting powers. So how can you get it? Most grocery stores or pharmacies will offer a Vitamin C option that comes in supplement form. You can also get more Vitamin C by eating more dark leafy greens or citrus fruits on a regular basis. This is one of the easiest ways to give your body a little extra boost.
Wash Your Hands Often
One good way to avoid illness is to eliminate excessive germs. Though we will all be exposed to multiple germs on a daily basis, washing your hands often throughout the day can help keep sickness away. Make hand washing a habit. Wash after a trip to the bathroom, after touching surfaces, and after coughing or sneezing. Wash once or twice for no reason at all. If your hands become dry, follow up each washing with a moisturizer, and you may be able to protect your health and your skin at the same time.
Exercise
There are so many good things to say about exercise. It helps boost weight loss efforts, lowers blood sugar and blood pressure, and keeps body systems functioning efficiently. And for the immune system, exercise may give it a boost that really lasts. Those who exercise on a regular basis are less likely to suffer from illness or chronic pain. And when they do get an illness, the duration is often much shorter. For an incredibly inexpensive way to improve immunities, throw on some shoes and take a walk.
Now is always a great time to pay attention to the immune system. Whether it’s summer, winter, spring, or fall, the immune system is your ticket to better health. Use these tips to boost your immunities this season and feel better than ever all year long.
