Are You in Need of a Mental Health Day?

Taking mental health days is becoming a popular idea. More people are taking days off just to allow themselves to heal mentally or emotionally. And even better, more employer are encouraging this proactive measure. Unfortunately, even though the practice is growing, it's not necessarily mainstream yet. There are still plenty of people who fail to see the importance of taking time for mental healing. And others are simply unaware that a day would really do them some good. So how do you know? If you've been thinking of taking a mental health day for yourself, take a look at these signs that it's a good idea. 

You're Excessively Fatigued

Fatigue can be linked to physical aspects. You've been staying up late. You've been working extra hard. But it can also be linked to your mental state. Fatigue is a sign that your brain needs a break. It can be a sign that depression or anxiety or both are creeping in. If you've been feeling excessively fatigued, whether it's due to physical or mental factors, go ahead and take a day to rest and recharge.

You're Short Tempered

Some people have a short temper all the time. It seems to be the way that they're wired. But other people only pick up this trait when they've had enough. When they need a rest. When they need to decompress. If you feel suddenly short tempered, it might be a sign that you're in need of a day to unwind and let go of stress. Try not to ignore this sign because it will only grow and grow without an outlet to let it all out.

You Think You Need It

Don't underestimate the power of your own intuition. If you think you need a day to relax, take it. Your job is absolutely important, but it's just not as important as your health. Trust yourself to make the right decision for your own well-being. Listen to yourself, and you'll be better off in every way in the long run.

It's OK and even advisable to take mental health days. Sometimes, you just need a day to reset, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Protect your mind, body, and soul. Taking your mental health seriously and taking breaks when you need it will help you stay strong, stable, and happy for the rest of your life.
