Why More Endurance Is a Goal of Good Health

By Genevieve Cunningham

Good health is the ultimate goal. We all know it, and most of us strive for it. But what does good health mean? A lot of people know the basics -- you're supposed to eat well and drink lots of water and maintain a healthy weight. But the most common health goals aren't the only health goals. In fact, one of the most powerful and important healthy goals is one that usually gets ignored: endurance. Endurance keeps us moving and improves longevity. But why is it so important? If you're looking to set health goals that really matter, take a look at why endurance should be at the top of your list.

Endurance Means Energy That Lasts

The more endurance you have, the longer your energy is going to last. Trying to get in a good workout? Endurance will help you stick with it. Need more energy to simply make it through the day? Again, endurance is a big part of that. Exercise -- especially cardio -- will help you build this important trait, and once it starts to improve, you'll notice that it's easier and easier to get through your day without massive exhaustion taking you over.

Endurance Is so Important for Work

Most people make it through their work day, but they do it with fatigue creeping in by the end. While this might not seem like a big deal, fatigue actually causes other problems besides low energy. If you're lacking energy, you'll also suffer with poor productivity and moodiness. Work -- good work -- relies on you being able to endure to the end and get the job done right. With more endurance, that's exactly what you'll be able to do.

Endurance Helps With Daily Life

Though we don't think about it this way, regular life requires plenty of endurance. It's hard to do the mundane parts of life -- shopping for groceries and washing clothes and carrying kids from place to place. Without a little stamina, these things are going to drag like never before. But if you improve your stamina, getting these kinds of tasks done is easier. And that makes life better and more enjoyable. If you think you could stand to have a little more endurance in your daily life, make it a goal and get busy.

Endurance. Stamina. Extra energy. Whatever you want to call it, we need it! We need it for work and fitness and family life. And with a set intention and some hard work, we can definitely improve our endurance. Get started today, and you'll have more energy in your life before you know it.
