Smart Tips for the Healthiest Summer Ever
By Genevieve Cunningham
Summer is here and that's a wonderful thing. Summer is a time of year like no other. Though the heat can be a bit much, summer also brings a certain atmosphere into the air. A feeling of freedom and relaxation. But even with the relaxed rules and carefree attitude floating around, it's important to stay on top of your health. In fact, with the very busy autumn season just around the corner, it's extremely important to pay attention to your overall wellness. But how? If you're ready to live your healthiest summer yet, take a look at these tips to help you succeed.
Severely Limit Technology
It's really tempting to spend hot days inside in front of the TV. Or even better, in bed with our phone in hand. But too much technology will quickly lead you toward an unhealthy summer. If you're going for good health, you have to limit technology -- and probably to the extreme. Set a time limit of only a couple hours per day. This might sound like plenty of time, but you'll be shocked to see how much time you actually spend on a screen of some kind. Getting away from technology will encourage other practices such as seeing friends, exercising, or doing something engaging and active.
Set a Daily Movement Goal
While you're already setting goals, set a goal for movement. Maybe you want to move 30 minutes or one hour every day. Maybe you want 30 minutes of exercise plus an additional 30 minutes of another activity. It doesn't really matter -- set a goal that works for you. This helps you stay moving, which is better for weight maintenance, energy, sleep, and overall health.
Eliminate Every Drink Except Water
There are so many delicious things to drink. Most people like to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, a few sodas throughout the day, maybe some tea. But if you're looking for ways to improve health, try to eliminate every extra drink except water. Maybe you still have your morning cup of joe -- but after that, it's all H2O. Water will help you stay hydrated, clear the skin, flush the digestive tract, and keep you feeling better overall.
Having a healthy summer is absolutely not an impossible task. It can be easy. It's all about making the right choices one day at a time. Use these little tips to get moving in the right direction, and you'll be able to experience your best and healthiest summer to date.
