Exercise-Friendly Habits to Keep in Your Life
By Genevieve Cunningham
Exercise should be your friend. We don't often think of exercise in these terms, but it's absolutely crucial that we get familiar and comfortable with regular movement. It's good for body, mind, and soul. Of course, maintaining a solid exercise routine is harder than it seems. We just get so busy -- and if you don't already love exercise, it's hard to make the time. So how do we make it easier? We make and keep good habits! If you really want to include exercise in your life, take a look at these exercise-friendly habits to make a part of your routine as soon as today.
Keep a Bag Packed
It can be incredibly helpful to keep a workout bag packed and in your vehicle. Why? Because you'll no longer have the excuse of being ill-prepared. If you find that you have an unexpected 30 minutes or an hour, you're ready to go. You won't have to spend any time getting ready or gathering equipment after work. You'll head to the gym and get it done. Just make sure that your bag has everything you'll need -- clothes, shoes, a water bottle, and a light snack.
Get a Pedometer
A pedometer is a small device that counts your steps. It might be possible to download a pedometer on your phone, or you can buy a watch that you can wear at all times. Keeping track of your steps is an easy way to determine whether you're moving enough. If you find that you're not getting in enough steps throughout the day, you can make a plan to move more. A pedometer is an easy, low-key, low-impact way to burn more calories. If you need to really ease into it, getting a pedometer is a good choice.
Make Good Friends
Friends heavily influence our habits. Good exercise-minded friends can help you develop healthier habits that last an entire lifetime. If your friends like to hang out while being active, you'll be better off. If your friends encourage you to exercise on a regular basis, you'll be better off. You don't have to ditch your old friends, but making and keeping fitness friends can help you move in a positive direction.
It's not easy to change our habits, but in many instances, it's really important. The better your habits, the better your health and the better you feel as a whole. Use these tips to help yourself develop exercise-friendly habits, and you may be able to enjoy better health and more confidence in no time at all.
