How to Have a Healthier Morning
By Genevieve Cunningham
The way that you start your morning has a huge impact on the rest of the day. If you wake up, stumble out of bed, rush around, eat poor foods, and generally have a bad morning, you'll probably also experience a bad day. So how can you avoid this? How can you make sure that your day is healthier and happier? If you would like to get a good start to your day every day, take a look at these tips for a healthier morning.
Get Up Early
If you don't already wake up early, you're going to be shocked at how much of a difference it really makes. Waking up early gives us more time in the mornings, which means less time rushing around and more time to prepare. If you have a hard time waking up in the mornings, start with a simple five or 10 minutes earlier. Once you get used to this, set your alarm back to 20 or 30 minutes. It may seem like a lot of work, but waking up early as one of the most effective ways to get your morning started off in the best way possible.
Have Quiet Time
Don’t wake up with a lot of noise. This is often too much for the senses too quickly, and it makes us feel scattered and overwhelmed. Instead, make sure you get a little bit of quiet time in the morning. Grab your coffee and find an empty room or a front porch. Get a few minutes all to yourself to relax and start your day. This makes a big difference in the stress level that you feel and your mental health status for the rest of the day.
Start With Water
You don’t have to do it first, but make sure that your body gets some water first thing in the morning. Water helps give us energy, kickstarts the metabolism and digestive system, and makes us feel satisfied mentally and physically. Drink your coffee first if you need to, but make sure that you’re getting at least a small glass of water before you leave your house for the remainder of the day.
If you can start your day off in a good way, the rest of the day is more likely to follow suit. Use these tips to get moving in the right direction from the very beginning. With some good habits and a little patience, you may find that every day gets just a little bit better when your mornings are clam, centered, and healthy.
