New Location, Same Schedule!
By Donna Stark
The idea of staying cooped up in the house all day may sound enticing for some, but for others, it's a complete nightmare. And it's a nightmare that many are living through right at this moment. Gossipy coworkers are being replaced with nosey neighbors, demanding bosses are being replaced with attention-seeking children, and insane commutes to and from work are being replaced with daily internet connection issues. It's no wonder that so many people are struggling while working from home, which is why it is so important to keep up with what your body knows. Take a look at the following tips on how to do so.
Keep a Normal Sleep Schedule
Although staying up late and sleeping until noon sounds like a lot of fun, the effects that come from a bad sleep schedule can wreck your daily schedule. It is important to maintain a consistent sleep routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day. It is also helpful to make sure the rest of the family is on the same page so you don't have any disruptions to your schedule.
Make Healthy and Balanced Meals
It is very easy to slink to the pantry and grab that package of cookies when you are working just a few steps away, but one thing that many people tend to overlook is how food can affect your brain. The food you consume provides energy not only for your body but also for your mind, so make sure you are choosing nutrient-dense foods to eat. Eating balanced, nutritious meals and snacks can help increase energy, productivity, concentration, focus, and creativity. Now, I'm not saying you can't enjoy life's greatest pleasures, such as those cookies or takeout, but a good start to a healthy mind should definitely begin with what you eat.
Find Your Time
It's all too easy to let work consume every aspect of your life and that remains true even when you are working from home. It is so important to schedule time for the things you enjoy doing. And if you have a hard time following through, pencil it in on your calendar! Be sure to fit in your exercise, schedule time for your favorite hobby, and don't forget those special evening plans with the family!
Finding Success at Home
If the dream of working from home has turned into one of your worst nightmares, you may need to take a step back and focus on what you can do to maintain both your sanity and your health. Whether you follow the tips above or come up with some of your own, your actions are sure to make a dramatic difference!
