Help Your Chiropractor Help You With These Tips

By Paul Rothbart

Chiropractic care has fully arrived on the scene as a viable form of medical treatment and preventative care. Many people have found relief and improved health through regular visits to their chiropractor. Like anything else, the more you put into chiropractic, the more you will get out of it. Your health is ultimately your responsibility. It's your job to take the daily steps to maintain. By utilizing these tips, you can work together with your chiropractor to stay in the best of health.

Practice Good Posture

Your mother probably warned you frequently about slouching. She was right. Good posture is not just something you learn in charm school. Slumping and slouching put an unnatural curve in your spine. So too does keeping your head tilted down. These unnatural curves can compress vertebrae or create subluxations that cause pain. Poor posture can create subluxations in the hips on other joints. You can help your chiropractor keep your body in good shape and free from pain by taking the time to practice good posture. Back straight, shoulders back, head up. In time, it will become second nature.

Sleep Well

Far too many people get poor sleep night after night. First, there is a tendency to cut back on hours of sleep in order to create more waking time to get things done. As a result, people get less than the recommended 8-9 hours each night. Lack of sleep is a sure way to diminish health. It's also important to improve the quality of sleep. Keep your bedroom dark, cool, and quiet. Don't drink caffeinated beverages after about 4 in the afternoon. Looking at electronic screens in the last hour before going to bed can also make it difficult to sleep. Set a schedule and stick to it. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day, even on the weekends. Find ways to relax before bedtime such as a warm shower or bath or meditation. Your health will be greatly improved by better sleep.

Exercise

An inactive body tends to be in lesser health than an active one. You can help yourself and your chiropractor by getting regular exercise. It will keep your muscles and tendons strong and toned, reducing the risk of pulls or tears. Joints that get worked regularly maintain their full range of motion and are less prone to pain and injury. Even a brisk 30-minute walk five days a week can vastly improve your health and help you meet your chiropractor halfway in keeping your body functioning properly.

Seeing a chiropractor can be one of the best ways to manage pain and keep your spine and joints healthy. But if you also take care of yourself, your results can be even better. Care for your body and consider a visit to The Joint Chiropractic. No appointment is needed. You may find that a chiropractor is an excellent teammate in maintaining your best health.
