Healthy Habits to Live Your Best Life

By Alexis Mills

If you want to get healthier and to live your best life, the way to really do it is through your habits and what you do consistently. When you aren't sure where to start, just start with a small healthy habit like drinking more water and work your way from there. In order to actually live your best life, you need to turn that desire into actionable steps to make habits.

Meal Prep on Sundays

Taking Sunday as a day of rest and prep for success during the week really makes health decisions a lot easier. Plus, making food from scratch so breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be healthy can also be time consuming and exhausting. Cooking in bulk and storing in containers will make your meals that much simpler.

Focus on One Thing at a Time

Being a multitasker, this one can be difficult for me, but I realized how much more I could get done when I fully put my focus into one activity at a time. Once I do this it makes my productivity rise and I'm able to work through my to-do list faster. Trying to do 10 things at once can make things much more stressful than they need to be.

Plan Your Workouts in Advance

Just as if you schedule your week to get work done, if you need help sticking with a workout routine, make an exercise schedule too. This is another great Sunday activity to write in your planner; mark down which days you will go to the gym. If you plan for it, write it down, and set the time aside ahead of time, it will make you much more likely to do it.

Put Your Phone Away When Working

How many times do you look at your phone when you should be working even if there isn't a notification? Our phones are a constant addiction and interruption. When you are working, you will be much more productive if you set your phone away and focus on what you are trying to accomplish in that moment.

Take Movement Breaks

Remember that your body thrives off of movement and activity, so even if you do your workouts, you still need to incorporate movement throughout your day. Make a rule that for every hour of sitting you get up and move for at least a few minutes.

The Power of Habit self-help book says it takes 3-4 repetitions to make a habit stick and become part of your regular life. Give yourself some dedication and start to live a happier, healthier, and more productive life.
