Dr. Jared Lane became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2020 when he began serving residents in the Oklahoma City area, where he continues doing the work he finds so gratifying.
“It’s rewarding to help people function better,” he says. “I love teaching them.”
He enjoys spending time with his daughter, and in his spare time likes playing basketball.
Dr. Lane attended Stephen F. Austin University, where he earned a BS in biology. He then went to Parker College in Dallas.
“The first week of chiropractic school, I heard some of the insane results people have had and knew that I was doing what I was supposed to be doing,” he says.
A product of East Texas, Dr. Lane worked previously in Dallas and Edmond.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Lane says the one thing he always keeps stocked in his refrigerator is kombucha: “It’s sweet, but good for me.”
If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, he would include favorite basketball players Kobe Bryant, celebrity crush Emilia Clark, and talk show host Joe Rogan.
One of the greatest experiences of his life was getting floor seats for a Dallas Mavericks basketball game. “It was cool to see how big and athletic NBA players are up close,” he says.
Dr. John C. Calhoun became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2021 when he began serving residents in the Oklahoma City area, where he continues doing the work he finds so gratifying.
“I love helping people live their best lives,” he says. “Our bodies are designed to feel awesome and function at 100 percent. When we experience all sorts of stresses in life, especially physical stressors, we aren’t at our best. I like adjusting people to remove and reduce those built up layers of stress that cause our bodies to feel less than great. It is empowering for them and rewarding for me.
“The other thing that’s great about being in the chiropractic field is building relationships and then seeing people’s lives improve so much that they bring in their family for care. With the whole family’s health improved through chiropractic, we see generational impact and it really shows that we are making a more lasting difference in people’s lives than just a quick feel-good service.”
Dr. Calhoun is a product of Lindsay, Okla., and worked previously in St. Louis, Mo, Franklin, Tenn., and Newburgh, N.Y.
He and his wife have two sons and their family includes a Yorkshire terrier named Gus-Gus and a “black fur-ball mix” named Boomer “whose love language is tug-of-war.” In his spare time, Dr. Calhoun enjoys singing and lifting weights.
He graduated from Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo., with a doctorate in chiropractic. Before that, he got degrees in sports medicine and Spanish at Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif.
“I had never considered chiropractic as a profession until a three-hour phone call from Dr. Chris Chang in March 2012,” Dr. Calhoun says. “It thoroughly convinced me that being a chiropractor was, without a doubt, what I was intended to do with my life. Then God opened up all the doors of opportunity that I needed and gave me a shove.”
Some of the most memorable experiences he has had involves working with women to help them “be able to conceive and have children naturally when they were previously told there was no hope after medical interventions did not work,” he says. “These kids would’ve never been born if their moms hadn’t been receiving chiropractic care.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Calhoun is a fan of The Hunger Games trilogy. “First book I ever read just for fun,” he says. “Before that, reading was awful because it was just textbooks or assigned reading for school. The Hunger Games made reading fun for me.”
If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Calhoun would include humorist Will Rogers, President Ronald Reagan, “the greatest American athlete” Jim Thorpe, and Benjamin Franklin.
Among the coolest things he has ever done was attend college in California, and that provides some level of credibility to the best advice he can give to young people: “Don’t stay around your same stomping grounds all your life. Live for extended periods of time in different locations and you’ll grow into a person you never would’ve imagined."
