By Donna Stark
Finding a soulmate, jumping out of an airplane, volunteering in another country, and being able to see the Northern Lights. These are just a few of the things that many people add to their bucket list. You may even want to add them to yours, but before you do, let's talk about some other things you should add on as well. Things that will really get you excited and feeling good. What are they? Keep reading to find out!
Adding Health and Wellness to Your Bucket List
Now may be a good time to take a look at your bucket list and see what should be added. A bucket list is a list of things you would like to do, achieve, create, or experience. You may have already filled your list with amazing treks around the globe or specific career goals you would like to attain, but if you aren't healthy or if you are struggling with pain, how are you possibly going to be able to achieve any of them? That's why you should also add some health and fitness goals to this list. Here are some suggestions.
- Commit to a daily fitness routine - By committing to a daily fitness routine that includes both strength training and cardiovascular exercise, you will be able to improve your overall physical, emotional, and mental well-being. You only need 30 minutes a day, so you shouldn't have any trouble fitting this into your schedule!
- Set boundaries with technology - Try to establish connection-free time periods throughout the day and turn your electronic devices off at least an hour before bed. Spend the extra time you get by doing so with your loved ones or use it to engage in a hobby or to practice some self-care.
- Get your rest - The quality and quantity of sleep you get is a contributing factor in how well you feel, so make sure you are prioritizing your rest! Aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night and be sure to keep your room dark, cool, and quiet.
- Avoid junk food - One of the easiest and simplest ways to improve your diet is to drastically reduce, or eliminate entirely, your consumption of processed foods. Processed foods are loaded with tons of the ingredients you don't want in your body and little to none of the ingredients you do. Try to eat as naturally as possible instead.
The Best Bucket List Yet
It's your bucket list, so of course, you can add anything you want. But you may want to include the basics of good health and wellness if you want to achieve all the others. Give your body what it needs so you can get busy checking things off the list!
