Do You Have Morning Pain? These Tips Might Help

By Genevieve Cunningham

It seems like there are two kinds of people in life. There are those who wake up in the morning with a great attitude and a smile on their face. And then there are those who you should never, ever speak to in the mornings. But in all fairness, there are a few who float in the middle as well. Those who don't hate the mornings, but who can be swayed by an event or by waking up feeling less than their best. If you fall in this middle group, the last thing you need is to suffer from pain in the mornings. And unfortunately, waking up with pain is incredibly common. If you suffer from morning time pain and you'd like relief, take a look at these tips that are incredibly effective -- and just might completely turn your mornings around for the better.

Improve Your Sleeping Environment

If your sleeping environment isn't comfortable, you're far more likely to wake up in pain. This includes having a weak mattress, a pillow that doesn't provide support, or being surrounded by things that don't allow you to relax and feel comforted. Luckily, this is an easy one to fix. Though the mattress might cost you a bit, the rest just takes a little trial and error. Determine what makes you feel good in your sleeping environment, and create a space that invites total relaxation. If your body is able to fully relax, you may have fewer aches and pains upon waking.

Make Sure You're Getting Enough Sleep

The body requires a certain amount of sleep, and most people are guilty of shortchanging themselves just a bit. You'll probably need to set a bedtime and absolutely stick with it. Staying up late or getting poor sleep for even just a few nights can greatly affect the way your body and mind feel and function. Don't be ashamed of making sleep a priority. It will help with the pain, and it may boost your overall health as well.

Stretch Before and After Bed

Before you get into bed, get in a good stretch. This relaxes the muscles and helps work out tension before resting. It may also help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep once you're there. But as soon as you wake up in the morning, stretch again. This should be really easy since one of our first instincts is to stretch. Though it may not eliminate every single ache and pain, it can ease tension and will likely lead to long-term pain relief.

Morning pain is actually incredibly common. It happens to everyone at some point. But luckily, it's not something that has to stick around for good. We can get rid of it with some careful planning. Use these tips to lower the amount of pain you feel in the mornings, and you may be able to improve your entire day as a result.
