The Health Advice You Need to Take to Heart
By Brandi Goodman
Your heart health matters. With some lifestyle improvements you can greatly improve your chances of maintaining a strong heart that helps your body operate. This is the health advice you need to take to heart for better well-being
Check Your Blood Pressure and Cholesterol
Both your blood pressure and cholesterol levels can be indicators of heart problems. Several high readings in a row mean it's past the time of needing to start making healthier choices. Get these levels checked regularly and begin making better decisions for your heart health as soon as anything is off with your reading.
Get More Exercise
If you know you don't get the amount of exercise you need each day, it's time to start adding more of it to your routine. Your heart needs exercise to continue to be strong and function well. Your blood and oxygen will be pumping faster and circulating through your body properly. Exercise can even reduce stress, which may lower your blood pressure. It can also reduce bad cholesterol levels.
Start a Heart-Healthy Diet
Certain foods are better for your heart than others. You need to start and maintain a heart-healthy diet that will help to keep your organ functioning well. Start by cutting back on foods that can harm your heart, such as processed junk and things packed with sodium. Limit your sodium and fast food. Instead, you should be eating fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains.
Set a Sleep Routine
Getting enough sleep each night helps to keep you healthy. If you suffer from poor sleep, you're more likely to experience chronic illness. This could lead to added stress and complications for your heart. Set a sleep routine and make sure you're getting adequate rest each night. Take a warm bath before you plan on heading to bed. Use lavender in a diffuser. Stay off your phone and keep the TV off so the blue light doesn't confuse your mind about whether it's night or day. Use an eye mask to block out the light. There's lots of options that will help you get better sleep regularly.
