Why a Healthy Day Starts in the Morning

By Genevieve Cunningham

The mornings can be so tough. We drag ourselves out of bed. We drag ourselves through our morning routines. And we drag ourselves to work. But what if the mornings didn’t actually have to feel like this? And more importantly, what if a healthy morning could make your whole day healthier? Would you be interested? Of course you would! If you’re ready to turn your health around and make every day just a little better, take a look at why you should focus on improving your mornings first.

It Sets the Tone for the Day

The morning can affect the entirety of the day. Wake up late and feel rushed? The rest of your day will likely feel rushed as well. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? You may notice a little irritability all day long. This domino effect is why it’s so important to start the day off healthy. A healthy breakfast, some quiet time, and a push in a healthy direction can set the tone for the whole day and leave you feeling better about the direction of your health and life.

It Gives You Energy or Drags You Down

When we first wake up in the morning, we have the ability to drag ourselves down or pep ourselves up. If we drain ourselves with unhealthy habits and negative thinking first thing, we’ll probably feel rundown for the rest of the day. But if we choose healthy habits and positive thoughts, we may notice a bit more energy. Choose those morning habits wisely, and you may have more energy and motivation to finish the day out strong.

It Affects Mood

No one likes to be in a bad mood all day. It’s not fun and it’s not productive. An unhealthy morning can put is in a foul mood and leave us there. But healthy habits -- meditation, water, and a nutritious breakfast -- may help us stay in a good and positive mood for the remainder of the day. This affects our health, work, and interactions with others. If you want to feel good, improve your morning routine.

The mornings are important. Many have a hard time in the morning, but making some small changes may completely turn your morning -- and your day! -- around. Set some healthy habits for yourself, and then watch your life make a positive turn. Let your healthy mornings turn into healthy afternoons, and eventually, a healthy life that is productive and happy from here on out.
