3 Things You Should Always Take to Your Workout

By Genevieve Cunningham

Working out is an important part of living a healthy life. It helps to keep us strong, limber, and mobile. But sometimes, fitting in a workout or feeling motivated enough to hit the gym is just hard. It’s in these moments that a workout is more important than ever … but how do we make sure it happens? Sometimes, the more prepared you are, the more likely you are to get it done. To make sure you’re ready for every workout, take a look at these three things that should accompany every trip to the gym.

Water and Snack

Dehydration is one of the worst things for your body. And since you’re likely working out to break a sweat, it’s definitely important to keep water handy. Fill up a water bottle and take it with you no matter where you’re working out. It can also be a good idea to keep a snack available. If you begin to feel lightheaded or woozy during your workout session, a quick bite of a power bar or a handful of nuts can help control blood sugar and keep you feeling your best.

Layers

Whether you’re exercising indoors or outdoors, layers can keep you comfortable. Carry your workout clothes with you in a bag, but make sure that it includes a shirt, a light jacket or pullover, shorts, pants, ear warmers, gloves, and a hat. This allows you to be ready for any temperature or weather condition, and makes it far more likely that you can stick out your workout until the end.

Supportive Shoes

A lack of proper footwear can make your workout session hurt. When your feet aren’t supported, it can cause pain in the foot or in the back. While it might be a slight discomfort at the beginning of your session, the pain is likely to grow as time goes on. If you don’t have good shoes, you should definitely save your money and invest in shoes that are both comfortable and supportive. Good shoes can make all the difference in sticking out your workout or giving up.

Half of the battle of a good workout is being prepared. Luckily, it’s not hard to prepare yourself for exercise. Make sure that these items are a part of your workout gear. You’ll be more comfortable, more adaptable, and ready to tackle anything that heads your way.
