Are You Sleepy Every Day?

Most people have times in which they experience periods when they just don’t feel rested and have a difficult time staying awake.  If this is just temporary, it may be due to a change in schedule or overwork.  If it is a regular occurrence it may be something to be concerned about.  Lack of sleep can result in serious problems regarding health and safety.  It can be a sign of other health problems, but it is often a combination of several factors that add up to a bad total.

Start With Known Problem Causes

There are a lot of things that may create problems with sleep.  One of the most common is caffeine.  It has long been recognized as something that can keep people awake or act as a stimulant.  Many people consume quite a bit, then wonder why they can’t sleep.  Besides coffee and tea, caffeine is found in many soft drinks, foods and candies, and especially in energy drinks.  Some people take in far more caffeine throughout the day than they realize.  It can take quite a while for it to get out of the system and may be the first place to look for problems.

Look At The Entire Picture

It is a good idea to consider everything about a situation that could play any kind of a role in disturbing sleep.  Eating too much or too late can prevent rest.  Some foods tend to be a little harder on the digestion.  Other foods can help people to relax.  Exercise is something that everyone needs and can help them to relax.  When people exercise too near the time they go to  bed, it can prevent them from unwinding.  In our modern world of technology, many people spend time using electronic devices.  Some have a problem putting them away and continue to use them late into the evening.  It can be a big distraction.

What About Sleeping Arrangements?

If you are serious about trying to improve your sleep, you may want to start where you actually sleep.  Lighting can keep people awake or disturb their sleep.  Sound is another thing to think about.  Some sounds can keep people awake while some can promote sleep.  I prefer to have soft music or earth sounds.  They tend to be soothing and keep other sounds from waking me up.  Also check your bedding, room arrangement, and room temperature.   If you are sleep every day, take a few steps to improve the quality of sleep you get.  You may find that better sleep can help you to feel energized.
