Milk May or May Not Be Your Thing

At times, we may feel that going back to basics is the best for us. It is for some but may depend on the occasion or subject. Making sure to have milk in our diets may seem like a no-brainer, but it may not always be the case. We all know how essential it is for children. They begin life having it as the only source of nutrition. As they grow older, their diets slowly shift away from large amounts of milk but still keep it as an essential part. By the time they become adults, they may not be drinking milk at all, or they may only do so in very limited amounts.
Milk May Be Tops in Protein
There are many sources of protein for us, but there may not be any as efficient as cows' milk. When we look at the number of calories we take in to have the amount of protein in this milk, it is hard to match. Many exercise enthusiasts make certain to drink milk following a workout. This allows them to replace the protein that has been lost from their session. Since protein is a nutrient that cannot be stored by the body, it is important to have a good source for its replacement. Drinking milk can replace fluids at the same time.
Milk Makes Some People Ill
It is sometimes hard to understand why some individuals can't drink milk. Allergies and sensitivities are very real. Many people have trouble with the sugar in milk. This is called lactose. Still others have difficulty tolerating one of the proteins. This is referred to as A1. In recent years, milk producers have been able to offer milk that does not contain this protein. It is usually marked as A2. Anyone who has trouble with regular milk may want to try one of these.
Milk Substitutes Are Not as Bad as They Sound
There are several kinds of substitutes on the market for milk. They are generally available to supply calcium. One of them is almond milk. It contains more calcium than traditional milk and comes in different flavors. For the most part, it can be used in the same way as other milk. I try to drink a glass of almond milk each night before I go to bed to help keep my calcium levels up.
