Overdoing Everything? Your Chiropractor Can Help
By Sandy Schroeder
It’s tempting, as summer moves ahead, to do too much. Entertaining guests, cleaning house, and traveling may all seem like good ideas until the body begins to complain. Sometimes the pain goes away but reappears a day or two later.
If your neck, back or shoulders are complaining, The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you can help. The Joint’s doctors of chiropractic help people of all ages find answers for pain and wellness issues every day.

When you come in, your chiropractor will want to hear about your schedule, the areas of pain, and your health history.
A gentle, targeted spinal adjustment may be used to correct joint restrictions that may be causing the pain. You may feel pain relief and an overall sense of well-being.
Wellness is unique to the individual. As you evaluate your results, you and your chiropractor can decide what the next step should be. You may just need to avoid overdoing it in the future, or you may need to do some regular stretching and strength exercises to protect your body from future injuries.
Always check with your doctor and your chiropractor before trying new exercises. When stretching, move slowly. Hold each stretch 10 to 20 seconds and never bounce or stretch to the point of pain. Try to stretch two to three times a week. Ideally you could stretch each morning before beginning your day.
- Hips – Stand with weight on both feet. Step back with right foot. Bend left knee. Shift weight to right hip. Keep right leg straight. Bend forward and reach down the right leg until you feel a stretch in the hip.
- Shoulders – Stand with knees slightly bent. Roll shoulders forward 10 times, increasing size of circles. Then rotate shoulders backwards.
- Ear to shoulder – Slowly bend the neck to one side toward the shoulder until a stretch is felt in the side of the neck. Switch and repeat on other side.
Staying in touch with your chiropractor will help you navigate all of the summer activities and avoid injuries.
