Are You in a Midlife Lull? Chiropractic Can Help
By Sandy Schroeder
Sometimes it’s a drag to get out there and walk, run or jog every morning, but the benefits are really too good to miss.
HarvardHealth researchers say maintaining high cardiovascular fitness during your 40s can make the difference in brain, body, and heart fitness for the rest of your life.
What you do in your 40s may make a huge difference. Researchers studied the fitness of 191 middle-age women. Each woman rode an exercise bike to the point of exhaustion. The researchers grouped the women by fitness. Forty women were considered to be in peak condition, 92 were in the middle, and 59 were at the lowest level. The women were then tested six times for dementia. Only 5 percent of the highly fit women developed dementia, while 25 percent of the medium group and 32 percent of the bottom group developed dementia. The study published in Neurology in 2018 found highly fit women were 88 percent less likely to develop dementia. These findings add to the growing amount of research that connects fitness to heart and brain health.
The best health tips may be to stay tuned, follow the researchers and fire up a daily fitness plan to ensure a healthy future.
How Chiropractic Can Help
The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you deals in health, fitness and wellness every day. They can help you assess where you are in fitness right now, and provide some good direction for the road ahead.
A gentle targeted spinal adjustment may help you lose nagging aches and pains, and re-energize your whole body. Many people report more energy, better sleep, and less stress.
Weekly 15-minute spinal adjustments may be an easy way to make your workouts work. Your chiropractor can help you assess your work routine, weight, stress, and workout patterns.
Need to work less - Sometimes fitness gets an automatic boost when the work schedule gets tightened up a bit, or times for workouts are built right into the day.
Need to stress less - When you are operating under a stress cloud, workouts may simply not happen as you wrap up a long day with an evening on the couch. Meditation, hobbies or time outdoors could help lower stress and boost workouts.
Need to weigh less - If you have added a few pounds over the winter months, now may be time to eat healthier as you walk, run and jog more.
