Self-Care Doesn't Have to be Pricey

We talk a lot about the importance of self-care and even if we all tend to agree that it is a vital component to optimal health and wellness, many of us push it to the side. We do this because we are under the impression that in order to take care of ourselves, we need to spend money that we really don't have. But that couldn't be further from the truth because there are plenty of ways you can indulge without overextending your budget. Take a look.

Get Crafty

Did you tuck away all of your creativity the minute that your life got busy? Chances are, you did and I bet if you look hard enough, you will be able to find those old projects hiding in a closet or drawer somewhere in your home. A form of self-care is doing what you love to do. So why don't you pull out those art and craft supplies and get your creative juices flowing again? You may be surprised by how much you missed it. 

Waste Time

There is nothing more satisfying than "wasting" your time for a couple of hours. Giving your body a chance to decompress may be something you need to condition your mind into doing if you are a non-stop kind of person, but its importance can't be stressed enough. You can "waste" your time by binge-watching a TV show, sitting on your front porch, or window-shopping at your favorite stores.

Enjoy the Sun

Go on, get outside! Whether you spend the afternoon reading a book in a park or laying out by your pool, there is nothing wrong with treating yourself to an extra dose or two of Vitamin D! Relaxing in the sun is a great way to reduce your stress and improve your overall wellness. After all, your body needs exactly what the sun can deliver.

Go on an Adventure

For the most part, this self-care idea is free. You may have to pay for gas or a coffee on the road, but those costs are minimal when compared to your overall well-being. You can hike new trails, attend free community events, buy discounted tickets for local museums, or spend your evenings listening to concerts in the park. The options are endless  you just have to look for them.
