Does Living Longer Really Appeal to You?
By Tom Herrin
By the time many people begin to reach middle age, they have grown tired in general. It may be due to some of the daily stresses they deal with. It may be family. It may be health overall. Some of these things are unavoidable, but many are things that can be controlled to some extent. When it comes to aging, many have completely given up to the idea that they are simply destined to have certain difficulties because of their genetic makeup. That may not at all be the case. Studies have shown people who have lived lives of almost total complacency can turn their aging around by making changes in their exercise and eating habits.
Age Catches Up Without Intervention
Certain things are destined to happen if nothing occurs to interfere with them. In other words, if people continue to rock along without giving much thought to managing their health, it will more than likely deteriorate. It works similar to an automobile that is neglected, it will show its age before it has to. The body does the same thing. People will often have higher blood pressure and blood sugar as early as their forties. This may go along with cholesterol numbers that move the wrong direction. Poorer blood supply and less mobility may also be seen.
The Body Can Suffer From Neglect
In studies with controlled circumstances, people who have been extremely sedentary have adopted a lifestyle in which they participated in somewhat vigorous exercise on a regular basis and experienced considerable improvement in a short time. Blood supply can increase, blood sugar can be lowered, blood pressure and cholesterol can be improved. A change in diet can act with the exercise to show real progress.
You Can Roll Back Years
There is little doubt that you realize you live in a great place to jump on the youth train. Since you live in the hill country environment, you really have an edge on many people. Exercise and outdoor activities are all around. Make a decision about diet and go ahead and start. If you want to try a diet that can actually lengthen your life, go for low fat. That is the only kind of diet that has been linked with longer life that may truly improve the condition of some of the genetic material in your body. Go for a walk right after your next meal. Drink plenty of water and get some quality rest. You are sure to see and feel the difference.
