I have been in practice for 20 years, having received my Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from the esteemed Parker University in 1998. My practice experience includes sports injuries, personal/occupational injuries, spinal decompression and pre/post-surgical rehabilitation. I am originally from New Ulm Texas, a small rural town near Bellville Texas. My family and I moved to Cedar Park in 1987 and I subsequently attended, and graduated from, Leander High School in 1990. I completed my undergraduate level education here in Austin and then went on to my graduate level of education at Parker University in Dallas Texas. I am a lifelong chiropractic patient after sustaining a traumatic injury that fractured my spinal column and destroyed the last disc in my spin. With regular chiropractic care I have been able to avoid spinal stabilization surgery, to connect my spine back to my pelvis, despite continuing my favorite hobby as an avid golfer.
I have been one of the full time chiropractic Doctors on staff at our Cedar Park location for 5 years, and look forward to continuing to educate others about chiropractic care as well as help them achieve a healthy lifestyle.
I worked with my husband while living in Houston and was a very deconditioned factory worker after 17 years of sitting at a desk and not moving much. When I watched in frustration and anger as my mother slipped away from us because of ALS (LouGehrig’s disease) and my own poor health was robbing me of the ability to enjoy life I met a chiropractor who showed me how to free myself from the tyranny of pain and get my life back through a holistic, functional approach. He helped me off the medical “merry-go-round” and worked with me as a partner in health. I became aware that there were a lot of people out there who struggled like me.
I returned to school exactly 20 years from the day I began at Angelo State University (too many rodeos and parties). Maturity and a steady eye on a goal put me in favor with several professors at The University of Houston who mentored me in my senior year. I worked with them in research, publishing and water rehabilitation and managed to surprise my family when I graduated Summa Cum Laud and Student of the Year from the University of Houston with a BS in Kinesiology and Nutrition!
While finishing a Masters and working as a personal trainer I had the opportunity of shifting focus to work with a group of highly respected doctors who gave me a true passion for their fields of sports and wellness chiropractic, physical medicine and water exercise therapy. I became a chiropractic assistant and developed an affinity for soft tissue work while learning to help young and older athletes ranging from Olympic athletes to weekend warriors. I also applied my knowledge by helping people with a wide range of issues like Diabetes, fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia and back pain. I then went on to graduate with honors and was nominated for Who’s Who from the prestigious Texas Chiropractic College in April of 2005. Postceptorships included hospital rotations with highly respected physicians in rheumatology and orthopedics at Hermann Hospital and the VA Hospital.
I owned my own practice in New Braunfels before my husband’s health began to decline, forcing us to close. My versatility comes from working in a variety of settings with many medical chiropractic as a coverage doctor and associate.
I am board certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. I am also a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the Texas Chiropractic Association having served as student president. I have continuing post graduate work in sports chiropractic and physical medicine, nerve conduction, EMG and clinical nutrition.
I am a 6th generation Texan, part country and part city girl. In my spare time I do in home massage and chiropractic for people with Parkinson’s disease who can’t easily get around and wellness patients who enjoy privacy and convenience in the New Braunfels and Canyon Lake area. I enjoy gardening, exercise, tubing, hiking and I miss horses!
