Bread Can Still Be Part of a Healthy Meal

By Tom Herrin

If you are someone who has a high level of concern for your health, you probably spend quite a bit of effort trying to learn all you can about the best foods for you.  It is well worth it because health is something that none of us can do without.  We must do everything within our power to protect it.  In terms of foods, we all take different directions.  One of the things that may seem a little controversial is bread.

For years, many people seemed to feel the meals could not be complete without bread.  My dad thought that it was a necessity for any complete meal.  As time went on, there was a lot of concern over just how bad some bread may be.  Those who consumed large amounts of bread made with highly processed flour tended to have some serious colon problems.  In recent years, some much better products have been made available to consumers.

Have You Tried Ezekiel Bread?

Some of us have probably not had Ezekiel bread.  It is a little different.  Many prefer it because it is made from sprouted whole grains.  This enables it to have more nutrients.  Many of these have no sugar.  That is always a plus.  They are also packed with protein.  It has some good fiber but is relatively low in calories.  If you haven't tried this bread, it may be worth a look.  You will find it pretty healthy and a new option for you.

Multigrain Breads

While you may have eaten whole wheat bread, there are other good breads made from grains.  They may be made from any of several kinds of grain.  They are usually loaded with nutrients.  They may or may not have whole grains, so you will need to do some reading of those labels to determine for sure what they have, but the labels should reveal just what they have.  Those with some whole grains should be easy to identify.

Make Flavor Count

Anytime we look for healthy foods, we don't need to forget they can still taste good.  Go ahead and try a few as well as reading those labels.  The uniqueness of different grains makes them very much individuals.  We don't all have the same likes, and that is OK.  Browse the baked goods section of your local market, and see what is there.  You can still build a healthy meal with some great choices in bread.
